The National Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) trains its personnel to monitor places of worship

Divisional heads, other officers, and members of the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have began a three-day training on the unique surveillance techniques necessary to fend off attacks on places of worship in the state.
This was stated in a statement that the Command’s public relations officer, Oyindamola Okuneye, made available to our correspondent in Ibadan on Wednesday.
Michael Adaralewa, the NSCDC’s Oyo State Commandant, tasked the officers with using the knowledge they would learn during training to increase security for state residents.
“I urge you to surrender yourselves for the protection of the lives and property of the people of the state by applying the knowledge gained during the training. Let this be shown in your service delivery for the safety of the state,” he said.
Kabir Baffa, the head of the training department of the Oyo State NSCDC, emphasized the need of providing the officers and soldiers of the corps with knowledge that might increase their effectiveness.
He stated: “You must understand the effective way of defending the defenceless because this is the only assignment-saddled security agency in the country.
“If the officers that are supposed to protect do not know the techniques of protecting, it is a disaster.”
Soji Akingbade, the Head of the Intelligence and Investigation Department and Deputy Commandant of Corps, stated during a lecture on the value of information gathering for effective policing as a tool in successful operations that no operation would be successful without reliable and prompt intelligence gathering.
He urged participants and members of the public to constantly provide the corps with reliable information about the joy in their area of responsibility.
Speaking about the unique strategies required for surveillance at places of worship in Oyo State, Deputy Commandant Oladeji Patunola, the state’s head of operations for the Corps, emphasized the significance of understanding the environment, particularly during the Friday and Sunday worship services.
“We have started and we shall continue to be present at all worship centres in the state as implemented by the Commandant General of the Corps, CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi,” he said.
