SDP Delta gov candidate shares fuel, Beneficiaries wonder if he will continue after election

As part of his campaign tactics, Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party, who is running for governor of Delta State, has resorted to giving away free Premium Motor Spirit, often known as fuel, to business drivers in the city of Warri.

Due to Gbagi’s campaign trail’s invasion of nearby Adane Associated Co. Limited gasoline stations, which freely distributed fuel to commercial motorbike and tricycle operators to ease their difficulty, Deco Road in Warri saw a temporary halt to business operations for more than five hours on Tuesday.

The PUNCH learned that the okada and keke operators, who ride motorcycles and tricycles, effectively converted the gesture into a festival as they blocked up the streets and yelled chants in support of the former governor, “Gbagi for Governor,” over and over again.

As Gbagi was sighted at the scene, the jubilant crowd hailed him chanting and singing solidarity songs, and in the process caused a gridlock on the Deco road.

Speaking with journalists, some people among the crowd said they hope to experiencing the same kindness from the SDP governorship candidate come March, if he emerged winner at the polls.
