Dachung Bagos, a federal member for Jos South and Jos East, urged President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) on Wednesday to ensure that the $23 million in Abacha loot that the US government acquired is used appropriately.
He pleaded with the administration to prevent the recovered monies from being used for campaigning and elections, as was done in 2018.
The member of the House of Representatives said this while participating in the Channels TV program Politics Today.
In order to prevent the funds from being transferred to elections in the last minute of the administration, he stated, “These funds are crucial, and we want Nigerians to be aware of the situation.
The N5,000 social intervention program was started in 2018 during election season and was funded by the Abacha wealth.
They have stated that it is for infrastructure projects, but let it not come to pass that the funds are paid and the projects are not finished, he continued.
