The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has uncovered, arrested and sealed illegal petroleum products dump site in the Federal Capital Territory.
This was posted on the corps’ Facebook page and confirmed by the NSCDC Spokesperson, Olusola Odumosu, on Sunday.
According to the post, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad made the arrest and sealing of the illegal oil dump site.
The post revealed that items recovered include “over 54,000 litres of suspected vandalised, illegally refined and adulterated Automotive Gas Oil, one pumping machine, one generator, two surface tanks containing suspected adulterated and illegally refined AGO, two empty surface tanks, four empty trucks, one truck containing suspected vandalised, illegally refined and adulterated AGO, two drums of AGO, two different waybills, two different vehicle plates, one pump action, one Dane-gun and six cartridges.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Correctional Service has dismissed nine officers and compulsorily retired 25 others for gross misconduct
This was as the service issued warning letters to four others.
According to a statement signed by the service’s Spokesperson, Umar Abubakar, on Sunday, the sanction was in line with the powers of the Controller General of Corrections as contained in the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, 2019.
