The official list of nominees for the 2022 edition was announced on Wednesday, September 12, by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the International Executive Committee of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
At the Award, which is set for December 2022, several Nigerian musicians received nominations. Kizz Daniel is the most nominated Nigerian artist with five nominations, thanks to his smash song “Buga.” Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best African Collaboration, and Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Pop were among the nominations for Kizz.
Burna Boy, Davido, Fireboy, and Tiwa Savage, who each received four nominations, are closely behind.
The categories “Best Male Artiste in Western Africa,” “Song of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” and “Artist of the Year” are all up for nomination for Burna Boy.
Best African Collaboration, Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Electro, Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Pop, and Best Male Artist in African Inspirational Music were all categories in which Davido was nominated.
The categories “Best Male Artiste in Western Africa,” “Song of the Year,” “Artist of the Year,” and “Best African Collaboration” were nominated for Fireboy.
For “Best Female Artiste in Western Africa,” “Artist of the Year,” “Best African Collaboration,” and “Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African RnB/Soul,” Tiwa Savage received four nominations.
Additionally nominated Nigerian performers are CKay, Rema, Pheelz, and Asake.
