Kidnapped Actors Have Been Released, According to Guild

Two of its members who were kidnapped in Enugu State, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel (Agbogidi), have been released, according to the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

The group said in a statement distributed by Monalisa Chinda Coker, the Guild’s director of communication, on Wednesday that the kidnappers freed the Thespians after being “moved by the spirit of God.”

This is to inform the world that the kidnapped actresses, Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, have been freed, unharmed, according to the statement.
Ejezie Rollas, the Actors Guild of Nigeria’s National President, confirmed their release by the kidnappers, who had been moved by the spirit of God to free them and leave them unhurt.
“The guild has arranged for medical checks and psychological support for the victims.
“On behalf of their families, the National President expressed our heartfelt appreciation to the Nollywood industry and Nigerians at large for the support and prayers during this trying period.
“He urged members to be security conscious on and off movie sets and always take precautionary measures on their security at all times.”
After working on a movie set, Okereke and Agbodigidi’s families couldn’t get in touch with them, thus they were reported missing on Saturday.

Later, their kidnappers got in touch with them and demanded a $100,000 ransom, which, according to the Guild’s National President Ejezie Rollas in an interview with Sunday Scoop, could not be raised.

Rollas said that while N1.2 million was raised, the kidnappers made fun of their efforts.
