Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), a recognised legal eminence, has been hired by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to pursue the redemption of his mandate in the Court of Appeal.
A copy of the notice of appeal that was provided to journalists on Friday shows that Olanipekun, who oversaw President Bola Tinubu’s legal team at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), is now the governor’s attorney.
Bode Olanipekun (SAN), Ibrahim G. Waru, and Akintola Makinde are further members of the governor’s legal team, with Wole Olanipekun & Co. managing the appeal.
Meanwhile, Chief E.O.B. Offiong (APC) remains the counsel for the APC.
Remember that last month, the Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal removed Yusuf of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP, and proclaimed Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the victor of the March 18 gubernatorial election.
However, Yusuf appealed the tribunal’s decision to the appellate court on 42 grounds, requesting that the court also strike out the APC’s petition in addition to setting aside the tribunal’s decision.
