The compilation of the local government area (LGA) governorship election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been postponed until midday.
After compiling the results from 20 out of the 21 LGAs, Prof. Mohammed Mele, the state collation officer, and Mr. Yakubu Ari, the resident electoral commissioner for Adamawa, REC, made this announcement on Monday.
He said that the delay was necessary to allow for the verification of the stolen results from the Fufore local government region.
Shortyly before the shift, two agents of the leading parties in the election, People Democratic Party PDP and All Progressives Congress, APC, urged INEC to ensure justice in collation of the results before declaration.
After a protest by some political thugs in the city after the adjournment, according to NAN, security agencies were also deployed to main roads in the state capital to ensure security.
Along with being closed off, the entrance to INEC’s office was also blocked off between Gate II of the Jimeta Modern Market and the fire service roundabout. (NAN)
