According to Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin, President Vladimir Putin participated in significant military drills on Tuesday with China and numerous other nations that support Russia.
At the Sergeevski military range, Putin was having a discussion with the defense minister and the chief of staff of the armed forces, Valery Gerasimov, according to Peskov. He would later be able to watch the culmination of the military drills.
The Vostok-2022 military exercises, which began on September 1, are scheduled to last through September 7 on a number of training fields in Russia’s Far East and in the waters off its eastern coast.
Moscow claims that the drills will involve more than 50,000 soldiers and more than 5,000 pieces of military hardware, including 140 planes and 60 ships. The exercises are taking place while Russia invades Ukraine.
Several of Russia’s neighbors as well as Syria, India, and its most important partner China are among the participants.
In 2018, similar drills were last conducted.
