An auto mechanic named Valentine Enwerem was murdered by criminals on Friday evening, causing alarm in the state of Imo.
On the Owerri-Okigwe Road, he was slain at a location known as U-turn after the Nkwo Orji market crossroads.
The shooters abducted the three people he was transporting in a car after killing him.
As they fled the site, they continued to fire as the situation spread panic.
At the deceased’s workplace in Orji Mechanic village on Saturday, the deceased’s coworkers told our correspondent that after killing him and robbing the people inside his car, the assailants headed toward the Okigwe end of the road.
“They said they didn’t come for him and requested him to collaborate with them,” one of his coworkers remarked.
After taking the passengers, they shot him dead and fled in the direction of the Okigwe end of the road.
He was from the Imo state’s Ikeduru Local Government Area, and his wife also runs a shop. This is terribly regrettable. We are deeply hurt and enraged by this loss.
In a similar manner, two APC chieftains were taken on Friday at two different places in the state’s Isiala Mbano LGA.
While Chief Godson Obijiaku was taken from his community in Amauzairi, Ability, a politician and businessman from the Ikeduru LGA, was taken from a pharmacy in Amaraku.
People fled inside their homes in fear as shops hastily shuttered for the day as a result of the development.
Chief Obijiaku, a candidate for the next LGA chairmanship election, has been abducted, according to a source. When they observed a Toyota Tundra vehicle parked in front of a pharmacy as they got closer to Amaraku, they stopped, went inside, abducted Chief Ability, and then opened fire as they were leaving.
