IMPLEMENT AGREEMENTS OR WE STRIKE –
RESIDENT DOCTORS TO FG

The Federal Government has been given two weeks by the National Association of Resident Doctors to implement agreements pertaining to their welfare or risk industrial unrest.

After their National Executive Council meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa, the group issued the ultimatum.

The doctors stated they will meet again in two weeks to examine the advancement made thus far in relation to their requests in a communique signed by Dr. Dare Godiya Ishaya, president of NARD.

They promised to “take further actions for which nationwide industrial harmony may not be guaranteed.”
The doctors are requesting that the Federal Government act quickly to pay the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), which has recently undergone a review, so that their members can register for examinations by the deadline announced by the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN).

Additionally, they demand that the National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission immediately apply the new Hazard Allowance and pay all outstanding arrears as stated in the circular (NSIWC).

Other demands include the quick payment of the minimum wage’s resultant adjustment to its members who have not benefited since it was adopted several years ago and the payment of the skipping arrears for 2014, 2015, and 2016 to worthy members.
The Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and other related allowances must be reviewed immediately, according to the doctors, in light of the nation’s current economic situation and in accordance with the previous Collective Bargaining Agreement’s (CBA) provision that it will be done so on a regular basis.
