The Abdulsalam Abubakar General Hospital in Niger State’s Gulu, Lapai Local Government Area, has been attacked by armed suspects.
Two people were killed by the gunmen who were thought to be kidnappers, during the early-morning attack on Tuesday.
According to information obtained by Channels Television, the hospital doctor and a pharmacist were among the abducted individuals.
Eyewitnesses said that the shooters arrived in large groups and began firing randomly as they went about their business unimpeded by security personnel or vigilantes.
One of the victims, a retired doctor named Ya-Tachi, lives across the street from the hospital.
Despite security agencies’ and the state government’s efforts to address security issues, gunmen have recently started attacking Niger State.
This is the fourth time that kidnappers have targeted several communities in the area. Residents of the North-Central state are so terrified by the situation that they have requested more security from the authorities.
