‘God Save The King!’ Charles Greeting Crowd at Palace with a Smile

King Charles III, who had just returned to London after his mother Queen Elizabeth II passed away, shook hands with a few of the thousands of well-wishers who had congregated outside Buckingham Palace on Friday.

Upon their arrival from Scotland, Charles and Queen Consort Camilla were greeted by the audience with cries of “God save the King” and an impromptu rendition of the rewritten national hymn.

Before entering their new London residence, the new monarch and Camilla raised the royal standard for the first time during Charles’s reign to view flower bouquets left on the palace fence by members of the public.

Prior to her passing on Thursday, the royal couple had been paying the queen a visit at her Balmoral home in the Scottish Highlands.

Prior to making a broadcast address to the nation at 6:00 p.m., Charles was scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Liz Truss, who was just named by the queen on Tuesday (1700 GMT).
