FG proposes N200bn for universities and a 23.5% salary increase

On Tuesday, Adamu Adamu, the minister of education, claimed that while academics will receive a 35% pay raise, the Federal Government could only afford a 23.5% pay increase for university lecturers.

The minister added that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.), had issued a caution against entering into commitments that the government would not be able to fulfill.

Adamu revealed this to vice chancellors and other university system stakeholders in Abuja during a meeting he had with them.
