Enrollment in the contributory healthcare program reaches 293,008 Katsina people

Aminu Masari, the governor of Katsina State, announced on Tuesday that 293,008 state citizens had signed up for the state’s Contributory Healthcare Scheme.
He said that the inhabitants signed up for the program within the first year of its launch.
At a celebration marking the launch of the scheme in the state one year ago in Katsina, the governor made the announcement.
Masari realized that without appropriate health care services, no society could make real progress, which is why his administration established substantial budgetary provisions for the health sector.
He continued by stating that before the creation of the program, the average civil servant in the state spent between 35% and 45% of his income on healthcare.
“Today, an average Civil Servant spends less than 3% of his income. In other words, access to healthcare services, particularly to the poor and vulnerable population in Katsina State, is guaranteed,” the governor said.
He added, “To date about 293,008 beneficiaries enrolled into the formal sector programme with 40,820
vulnerable population that are covered under the Basic training and re-training of staff of the Agency.”
Although the state started the program a year ago, the governor noted that Katsina State recently received the renowned award for the best State Contributory Health Insurance Program of the year.
He proclaimed, “Let me use this opportunity to assure the people of Katsina State that the present administration will continue to ensure the provision of qualitative, adequate and sustainable healthcare services across the State.
“I wish to call on all people residing in the State to enroll in this Scheme in order to benefit from the advantages available under the programme .”
In his remarks at the event, State Health Commissioner Engineer Yakubu Danja stated that the state was investing extensively in the health sector to guarantee that residents have access to affordable and high-quality healthcare.
