Brother of a kidnapped train passenger asks FG for assistance

Azurfa Lois’ family has pleaded with the Federal Government to act quickly to save her from being married off by her kidnappers.

Christian Lois, age 21, was taken hostage on March 28 while on the Abuja-Kaduna train when it was assaulted by ISWAP fighters. Lois has been held captive ever then.

On August 20, Tukur Mamu, a previous mediator between the families of the hijacked passengers and the terrorists, alerted authorities to the fact that the kidnappers had expressed a desire to marry Lois.

Then he urged the government and the Christian Association of Nigeria to prevent a repeat of the situation that happened to Leah Sharibu.

Moses Bali, Lois’ older brother, said it appeared the family had been left alone following Mamu’s alarm on Sunday while speaking with our correspondent.

He explained that the terrorists’ threat had increased the family’s fear of her return, and he begged the government to stop her sister from being married.

Nobody has contacted us or any of our family, Bali lamented. 

No action has been taken that we are aware of to prevent my sister from getting married off. 

Despite the kidnappers’ threat to marry off my sister, everyone seemed to have moved on, but we as a family have not.

The danger has made us more concerned about her return than we already were. 

We don’t want my sister to experience the same fate as Leah Sharibu did.

“I’m pleading with the authorities to help us. 

We have no one, and as law-abiding citizens, I think the government is where we should direct our plea. 

The government needs to move quickly.
