Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, gave N50 million on Monday to help the flood-affected vendors at Kantin Kwari Textile Market in Kano State.
According to GOGAN Media, the flood that devastated the market last week ruined merchandise worth millions of naira.
The donation was disclosed by Atiku, the PDP’s presidential candidate, at a lavish celebration held for Ibrahim Shekarau, the senator representing Kano Central, who visited the party in Kano on Monday.
In his brief speech, Atiku commiserated with the affected traders, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with traders of Kantin Kwari Textile Market. We have heard about the calamity that befell your market.
“We are not here for campaign. I am here to receive Shekarau into the fold of the PDP.
“We really feel for you and, as such, I announce the donation of N50 million.”
