The All Progressives Congress’ (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, was brought in to ensure that the nation’s unity is maintained, according to Aliyu Wamakko, a former governor of Sokoto State and the party’s leader in the state.

When visiting him in his Gawon Nama house in Sokoto as part of a solidarity visit, Wamakko addressed the council of obas and the leadership of resident communities.

Wamakko, while welcoming the two groups said Nigeria is one indivisible nation adding, “therefore, Sokoto is a home to all the tribes irrespective of where one comes from.”

He said “Nigeria is for all of us hence the need to come together and work for a better tomorrow.”

When Senator Wamakko served as the state’s governor, he removed what were then known as school fees for non-indigenous people living in the state, he said.

He went on to say that in order to make sure they were kept on track, he had also given one of them the position of special adviser in his cabinet.

He gave them the assurance that if the APC won the election in 2023, it would take them into consideration when conducting its operations.

meanwhile, the Sokoto State council of obas and the local communities had backed the APC candidates in the state with all of their might.

Speaking during their visit, the Chairman of the Council of Obas, Alhaji  Surajudeen Sahabi, who spoke on behalf of the association informed the senator that on their part, they were ready to work together with the APC leadership towards ensuring the success of the party come 2023 elections in Nigeria, especially the presidential candidate of the party, Tinubu and the APC governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Ahmed Sokoto, among other candidates of the party.

Similarly, the Association of Sokoto State Residents Community under the leadership of Alhaji Salmanu Oke, explained to Wamakko that they came to register their unflinching support towards supporting APC during the forthcoming polls.

He added that the people of the state would never forget the helpful actions taken to help them by the administration when Wamakko was governor.

Yoruba, Igbo, Tiv, and Hausa representatives among others were permitted to speak in their native tongues throughout the visit as a symbol of one nation.

APC North West Zonal Secretary, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo, and other significant party figures from the state attended the visit.
