Angry oil workers protest today, blame military

The enormous oil thefts in the Niger Delta have prompted the Nigerian Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association to threaten a confrontation with the federal government.

During a press conference with media in Abuja, the President, PENGASSAN, Festus Osifo, accused soldiers and other security personnel guarding the nation’s oil pipelines of being responsible for the ongoing oil theft.

If the government didn’t stop the theft, he said, the association will suspend oil production.
