Air Peace suspends Johannesburg service over visa issuance difficulties

Due to delays in the issuance of South African visas to Nigerians, Air Peace has stated that it will cease its services between Nigeria and Johannesburg from August 22 through October 8, 2022.
In a statement sent to Twitter, the airline called the development “inevitable.”
One of the major airlines in Nigeria and West Africa, located in Lagos, blames a number of things for the suspension, including the difficulty that South African visas for Nigerian citizens are being provided, Nigeria’s “worsening forex crunch,” and the high price and limited supply of aviation fuel.
The confluence of problems, according to Air Peace, has led to low load factors on its flights to Johannesburg, making the route unprofitable. However, the airline is eager to get back in the air in less than two months.
“Having informed the South African High Commission in Lagos of the effects of the difficulty in getting SA visas by Nigerians, which consequence is the abysmally low passenger loads on our flights to and from Johannesburg, we believe that the situation will have improved withing the next 60 days. Hence our willingness to resume operations on October 9, 2022,” the airline explained.
According to Air Peace, affected travellers will also have the choice of rescheduling their flights for before or after the suspension period.
