Kareem Aderemi, a native of Ede, Osun State, who is 72 years old, reportedly shot himself in the head with a barrel gun to end his life.
In a conversation with our correspondent on Monday, Kehinde Adeleke, the state’s public relations officer for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, verified the occurrence.
The deceased, who was reportedly suffering from a number of illnesses, including partial blindness, is believed to have committed the deed on Monday at his home in Alapo’s complex in Ede by shooting himself in the head with a barrel gun.
“One Kareem ADEREMI, m, 72yrs, of 45, Alapo’s compound, Ede North LGA, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself on the lower jaw with a local barrel on July 10, 2023, at about 12:50 hours,” she continued.
According to a preliminary inquiry, late Aderemi had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease and partial vision issues without receiving the proper care. We discovered that he had been living alone for a few months prior to his reported suicide.
It is important to note that late Aderemi had a licenced barrel and had always carried it ever since he partially lost his sight. However, nobody was aware that he also had a cartridge that he used to commit himself.
As the body was being readied for burial, she continued by saying that the police had located and taken possession of the gun used in the crime.
