137 directors / aspiring school principals fail test

The PUNCH has reliable information that 137 out of the 344 federal workers vying for positions as principals of the 110 unity schools spread around the nation failed the exam administered by the Federal Ministry of Education.

Our correspondent discovered that oral interviews had been planned for the 207 directors who passed the computer-based proficiency test.

According to The PUNCH, there are 110 unity schools in Nigeria, including gifted special schools dispersed among the 36 federation states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The Federal Government had made the decision that candidates for school principal appointments must have successfully completed a competency-based test by the start of the 2022–2023 academic year.

344 people were initially shortlisted for the exam, according to The PUNCH.

Only 207 of the previously shortlisted 344 candidates passed the computer-based competency test and were scheduled for oral interviews, according to a list enclosed with a circular marked FME/S/1317/C.1/VOL.1/51 dated August 16, 2022 and signed by the Director, Human Resource Management, Federal Ministry of Education, David Gende.

The circular’s instructions stated that “the following successful candidates in the Competency Based Test held on August 16, 2022 are expected to show themselves for oral interview.”
