According to reports, 11 commissioners in Taraba state have switched from the PDP to the APC, which is currently in power.
This significant switch from the opposition to the ruling party occurs just hours before Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima’s APC presidential campaign rally in the state.
The president Muhammadu Buhari, is anticipated to welcome the defectors into the APC at the event. The presidential election is less than 16 days away at the time of this defection.
At the heels of this is also the rumour that the deputy governor of Sokoto State, Manir Dan’Iya, has decamped to APC but the deputy governor has denied it.
The news media reports that the Director of Press of the deputy governor, Aminu Abubakar, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone said his boss has dismissed rumours of his resignation from the party.
Abubakar confirmed that the deputy governor remains a bonafide member of the PDP in the state as well as a senatorial candidate of the party in the forthcoming general elections.
He calls on his supporters especially members of the PDP in the state to disregard the letter in circulation which he described as the imagination of his opponents.
